This weekend while we were at the 2011 Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival, I decided I wanted to try something new. I began to snack on a fresh batch of Simon Wong Habanero Teriyaki Beef Sticks. WOW they were so good and very addicting! Not only did I eat two pounds of these beef sticks, but I sold the other 6 pounds in the box! These beef sticks are not greasy like a “slim jim”, and they arn’t filled with “fillers” and stuff you don’t wanna know about. These are hand made, fresh from the factory meaty sticks. They are have a good sweet teriyaki taste but with a good kick of habanero, just enough to make you want a little sip of water, but not too much to make you want to drink a whole gallon at once. I highly recommend these beef sticks for your enjoyment!

How did these beef sticks get the name of Simon Wong? That is an interesting story in itself. Simon Wong went to the Jerky Hut in the beginning days and requested a job application. Simon was a student from Taiwan and initially the company was skeptical to hire him because he was young, visa qualifications and insurance purposes. They told him they didn’t have an opening and if he could check back in a week.

Next week, Mr. Wong came back but was told an opening still had not opened up and to check again in a couple of weeks. A couple weeks passed by and the persistant Simon came back for a third time, and this time the other sales people told Steve (the boss) to just give him some order forms and a box of sausage, let him drive his own car and see what he does.

Simon was so excited to finally have a job at The Jerky Hut, and being the self starter that he was, and the desire to succeed, he very quickly at a record pace became one of the best salespersons. The staff started calling him Simon Right for now on!

Eventually, Simon returned back to Taiwan and was never heard from again. In honor of Simon Wong, Jerky Hut named their Teriyaki beef sticks and Habanero beef sticks in his name. On every package of these beef sticks, is the question “Where are you?”, hoping that Simon Wong sees one of these bags and contacts Jerky Hut again.
